St. Augustine’s CE High School – Case Study
Posted on by Wellbeing For Education
Introduction
Wellbeing is a huge priority in Education, even more so with Ofsted asking schools to evidence how they look after their people.
The wellbeing coaching provided an opportunity for the Senior leadership team to speak to someone who is completely independent, in the knowledge that the coaching was private and confidential. I understand that there are often issues in the workplace that some people will not want to discuss with their line manager.
Challenges
As Head of the Federation, I am aware that working within the senior leadership team is a tough job, and comes with many challenges that can lead to feelings of stress.
It is my responsibility to ensure that my staff are working at their best and I viewed the wellbeing coaching intervention as one way to provide emotional support.
Outcomes
The intervention provided space for the leadership team to speak about their issues and to be coached in a manner that encouraged them to think about solutions.
I view the intervention as being potentially beneficial for the wider federation, as I hope the approach will filter down to middle leaders and staff who do not hold a leadership position.
The programme was easy to implement, all I did was let my staff know the sessions were available to them and, after a short registration process, they were able to book their sessions directly with their coach.
I personally found the 1:1 wellbeing coaching very useful, and would strongly recommend the service.
Results
100% – would recommend coaching to other colleagues
80% – very satisfied with the wellbeing coaching
I have found the sessions extremely helpful and it has been so nice to have someone to listen, reassure and also make me think!
